FISHING REEL ANATOMY
Spincast Reel Components
The Front Cover houses the line spool and directs the line through a hole in the front.
The Reel Foot attaches the reel to the rod. Each end of the foot slips under the hoods on the reel seat of the rod.
Turning the Handle re-engages the line pick-up pin on the spool which retrieves and re-spools the line.
The Line Release Button disengages the line pick-up pin on the spool which allows the line to be casted from the reel.
The Drag wheel increases or decreases the amount of force required to pull the line from the reel.

Baitcast Reel Components
Turning the Handle re-engages the spool gears which retrieves and re-spools the line.
The Spool Tension Knob increases or decreases the tension on the spool allowing the spool to spin freely when casting different weighted baits.
The Star Drag increases or decreases the amount of force required to pull the line from the spool.
The line is captivated on the Spool.
The Spool Release Button / Thumb Bar disengages the spool gear which allows the spool to spin freely as the line is casted from the reel.

The Clicker Switch engages the bait alarm.
The Magnetic Brake Control increases or decreases the magnetic tension on the spool.

Spinning Reel Components
Turning the Handle closes the bail and turns the rotor so the line can be re-spooled during retrieval.
The Rotor turns as the handle is turned spooling the line on the spool during retrieval.
The Drag increases or decreases the amount of force required to turn the spool as line comes off.
The Reel Foot attaches to the reel seat on the rod.
With the Bail open the line freely leaves the spool during a cast. With the bail closed the Line Roller picks up the line and re-spools it during the retrieve.
The Spool travels in and out so the line is re-spooled equally on the spool.
The Anti-Reverse switch keeps the handle and spool from rotating backward.
